About Dr. Josy

Dr. Josy is a proud native of the picturesque island of Puerto Rico. Her journey began with a quest for knowledge, leading her to the corridors of UMASS in Amherst, MA, where she started pursuing a passion for veterinary medicine.

2001, she proudly attained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University.

Subsequently, Dr. Josy embarked on a new chapter in Colorado, where she nestled her roots in the quaint town of Bailey. A decade in suburban life passed, yet the call of the mountains remained strong.

Returning to Bailey, she realized her heart truly belonged amidst the rugged peaks.

Driven by a profound desire to contribute to Park County, Dr. Josy wants to dedicate herself to the well-being of its cherished pets, whether in the comfort of their homes or her own.

Her household is bustling with life, comprising her beloved daughter, three rescued St. Bernards, and a cherished indoor kitty.

When not immersed in the noble vocation of saving lives, Dr. Josy finds joy in DIY projects at home, nurturing dreams of thrilling outdoor adventures like camping, ATV rides, and hiking.

She eagerly looks forward to becoming an integral part of your family, extending her passion and expertise to ensure the happiness and health of your beloved pets.

Audrey M. Sample-Mercado

Veterinary Assistant

Audrey is a sophomore at Conifer High School with deep roots in Colorado, born in Englewood, and thrilled to be back in the mountain community of Park County.

She has assisted Dr. Mercado since she was old enough to safely hold an animal, developing a lifelong love for veterinary care.

Outside work, Audrey enjoys spending time with her cat, Avery, painting, drawing, and writing. She also pursues her passions for wrestling—where she proudly earned a gold medal in the 2025 Warrior Championship—and writing.

Looking ahead, she plans to serve her country by enlisting in the Air Force and pursuing a career in criminal investigation.

Until then, Audrey is grateful to be part of the Bailey Caring Mobile Vet team, helping to care for animals and serving her local community while making the most of her high school years.

About Us

Three Saint Bernard dogs lying on a hardwood floor next to a rug.

From left to right:

  • Bessie: A 7-year-old spayed female undergoing a clinical trial for metastatic osteosarcoma at Colorado State University (CSU). She was rescued in 2020 from the Boulder Humane Society.

  • Bear: A 3-year-old male rescued from the Denver Dumb Friends League.

  • Muenster: A 12-year-old spayed female rescued from the Denver Dumb Friends League.

Meet Avery, our resident cat. This 11-year-old neutered male, originally adopted from the Denver Dumb Friends League, has a big personality. He supervises daily operations from his favorite perch atop the highest cabinets. Avery loves his mom, Audrey, and wishes she’d stay home more often to give him constant pets and attention throughout the day.
